SDC holds a dialogue seminar in Austria to discuss the Syrian situation

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held a dialogue seminar at the SDC’s office in Vienna, the capital of Austria, to discuss developments of the Syrian situation since the start of the Syrian Revolution. A group of democratic opposition and political figures interested in Syrian affairs attended the seminar. Also, Riyadh Darrar, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Consultative Office, and Qasim al-Khatib, a member of the Constitutional Committee and the Negotiating Body, were present at the seminar.

The seminar members reviewed the developments of the Syrian situation since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution in 2011, the paths of opposition, the formations of the Negotiating Body and the Constitutional Committee, and the opportunities for a solution in Syria.

Darrar discussed the current division that Syria is experiencing, emphasizing that it will only end with a consensus agreed upon by the Syrians, without excluding any party.

Darrar discussed the efforts made by the SDC to activate the serious and direct Syrian dialogue among influential powers. Additionally, the SDC aims to achieve this through the Conference of Democratic Powers and Figures that will serve as a comprehensive platform for Syrian opposition powers.

Drrar emphasized the sincere and effective commitment of the SDC to the Syrian cause, supporting all pathways and initiatives that contribute to unifying Syria.

During the seminar, the attendees enriched the discussions with their participations and questions. Most of these questions focused on the future of the political process, whether related to opposition paths or the formations of the Negotiating Body and the Constitutional Committee. They emphasized that any path toward resolving the crisis would only succeed through genuine political processes involving all Syrian parties.
